Ya Ampun…… this evening I meet up with an old friend at the nearby Coffee shop near my home. The same old mindset keeps on saying “tak boleh! tak boleh! tak boleh” so I ask him bila boleh? And he replied memang tak boleh!

When I show him my prosthetic leg, show him the picture of my running and he was shocked! I could see his face change and started to tears. I told him life is short and if you can change now by walking instead of sitting on the wheelchair insya’Allah you will be strong and easy to move around. No need to depend on others and be independent always. Jangan jadi malas tetapi balas mereka yang pernah menolong anda dengan kasih sayang.

He is wearing prosthetic leg since accident in 1994 and still sitting on the wheelchair because he keeps on saying “tak boleh” tetapi sekarang boleh?

My replied to others in FaceBook.

One of my big goals for this year is to inspire others especially the amputees out there. With modern technologies they are getting lazy now days by using remote control wheelchair to move around but what is the point of using prosthetic? Buat show je!

And to the Auntie who is giving FREE remote control wheelchair out there. Please STOP this! You are teaching amputees out there to be LAZY! Give it to someone who can"t move around or really in need.

Please stop giving excuses, please stop being laziness, please stop asking for people for help if you can work and please learn to be independent! Change this mindset and show others that you too can achieve in life and you too can walk like others.

I am sorry but someone needs to wake up this kind of people. If not sampai bila pun macam gitu…

Everyone out there can share this post to someone who are in need. Lets work together to achieve our goals and show the World that we are not lazy but very busy with working and earning a living...

As an amputee I am born to inspired and have the COURAGE to WAKE UP and CAN do something to inspire the World. Something that I CAN run a marathon and climbing mountain with a prosthetic leg, not much people can do and whoever it is out there PLEASE do not GIVE UP in life.

Sebagai seorang cacat saya dilahirkan untuk memberi inspirasi dan mempunyai keberanian untuk bangun dan BOLEH melakukan sesuatu untuk memberi inspirasi kepada Dunia. Sesuatu yang saya BOLEH larian marathon dan mendaki gunung dengan kaki palsu, tidak banyak orang boleh melakukannya dan sesiapa yang di luar sana SILA jangan putus asa dalam kehidupan ini.

Final year of 2011.

This morning myself, my wife Rozana Shariff, youngest daughterNur Athirah and bro Ezzat Bin-Yahya and his wife we drive to Malaysia; Our first stop is at beautiful city of Melaka where we had lunch at Ikan Bakar Malim and followed by 2 hours ride to Klang. We were welcome by bro Simon Xant and Leong Ann Lok at the hotel and had super durian with another friend Alvin Yap. What we called a year end durian fiesta! Yummy! Yummy!

Later in the evening New Year Eve dinner and celebration!

Tomorrow morning we will be attending event and will be meeting up with Kak Raja Izam Mansur for lunch before heading back to Singapore.

Should be given 20 years in prison and possible canning for child abuse; they should learn what is pain, what is hurt and what is mental suffering.

Also parents should learn how to take care his or her child and do not leave them ALONE! Yesterday while I was on the way back home before midnight saw a young 9 years old boy was alone in the platform at Raffles Place MRT Station. I was asking him where your parent is and he replied “Mummy ask me to go home” I do this every day and no scared.

Yes, now no scared later something happen they blame everyone; blame the government and bla bla bla…….

Stop complaining! Matters will not solve if we do not CHANGE!

I know how hurts a child is because I am one of them and the scare is always there L

I am going to set up SBR Foundation in 2012 where I can give back to society and help those amputees to change their lives by giving them a prosthetic leg and offer them a job. This is a tough mission but I know this dream will come through if I work for it.

Day 2.

A beautiful morning at Damas Suites & Residences; the hotel room is facing the newly Istana Negara at Jalan Sri Hartamas 1. I am officially ready for the Malakoff Kuala Lumpur 2011 run at Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort.

Getting myself ready to Desa Sri Hartamas where the shuttle bus services will pick all the runners to the race site.

Wake up at 6am, I am feeling much better after yesterday fever with flu virus attacking me. I had a cup of black coffee and will be running around the estate for 5km warm up run.

Sadness news, Mdm Teresa Hsu passed away peacefully on 7 December 2011 at the age of 113, Singapore’s Oldest Person.

I know her in early 2009 where both of us share our life journey during the inspiration talks at St Joseph’s Institution International.

Born in a tiny village in the Guangdong province of China, Hsu traveled to various countries, such as Hong Kong and Paraguay, to help others, before settling down in Singapore. She is a trained nurse, devoted her entire life to help the less.

I remember her quote “Sorry is beautiful”

God love you Hsu, you done lot to inspire everyone, Rest in peace.

When I watch this photo, I am so emotion and tears; this is his 3rd year running for Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore. He had inspired thousand of runners and future he will be running international to inspire the World.

Despite his pain on both of his leg due to muscle cramp, he never ever thinks of Giving Up!

There are two friends, Keith Yeo and Zai Nazri who he does not know them was beside him during the last 5km, He knows he can run and finish this race but he will never ever leave his two new friends behind. Motivate each other and completed the race together with two other supporter runners.

I am very angry, sad and disappointed with this unprofessional that has a big event but can’t pay volunteers on time! They promise her end of November 2011 and now they promise end of December 2011.

My daughter and her friend start her first experience job during the school holiday to earn some money for their upcoming camping course and buying school books.

I felt so disappointed to recommend her this job because I trust this organizing!

Yesterday after reaching at the ending point I was rush to the medical tent with the body temperature went up to 39 and was given cold bath.

First time experience whole body damn pain and this morning I went to hospital for an injection; the ankle of the good leg is swollen and pain due to too much walk instead of running. I have no issue on the prosthetic leg as it did well. (I have a reason why I walk after the 21km point. In future if SCMS did not change the route like Maxwell Road or ECP, I will not run again. I think some runners will know what I mean)

Now I could not walk and had been given 2 week rest before heading for training.

Thanks to the two friends Keith Yeo and Zai Nazri who I meet during the run, we walk all the way and motivate each other and thanks to another two runners at the 50 meters point who were there to support and special thanks to the DJ, supporters and friends for being there and cheers all the way till I reach at the ending point. Once again THANK YOU!

Thanks to the Malaysian supporters lead by June Malik, Kash Kasiri and some others for being there and YOU MAKE MY DAY! I GOT A CAN OF COKE! at 6km.

To all the runners CONGRATS AND WELL DONE! Recovery fast and rest well!

RIP to the young runner who died; God love you and respect is given to you for completing the 21km category.

Special thanks to all the volunteers who is working day and night since weeks ago to make sure everything is perfect. SCMS organizing committee should concern the welfare of the volunteers’ (I don’t want to say it but if you promise something, DO IT) my wife already send and urgent email concerning my 2nd daughter and the rest of the volunteers who had been working to pack the race kits) you know what I mean?

Anyway I am happy to complete this marathon. I already motivate and inspire thousand of runners. I will be back again in future with strong and personal best.

Yesterday I meet up with the doctor, he was surprise after a bad fall I had last 2 weekends and how I can fast recovery?

I told him the success with fast recovery is YOU need to be strong in the mindset and prayed to God, don’t panic, listen all advice given by the doctor, don’t think about the pain, sleep with Zoot compression tight, do light workout such as swimming aerobics and everything will be alright. I used the same formula during the amputation in 2008 and 3 month after recovery I started to run. Amazing right?

This morning at Foot Care and Limb Design Centre, Tan Tock Seng Hospital to do final checked on the prosthetic leg and change the blade sole.

This morning I am feeling much better just a slight pain at the back of the good leg knee cap and I think it will be fully recovery by these week. Anyway once I got the green light from the doctor on 1st Dec 2011, I will decide either to run the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore but I know with God wills I will do it.

Meanwhile I will be doing such as swimming aerobics and upper body exercise just to keep warm up. — at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

I am at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. The doctor checks on the back of the knee cap and advice me to go for X-ray. After the procedure had done I will be given 3 injections to ease the pain. I will update letter for the result.

The results are out and no serious damage! Thanks God!!! But the doctor gives me an advice to take 2 week rest and fully recovery. The pain will go off in the couple of day’s time. Thanks to all my friends for concerning and send well wishes. I still will wait for a week before decided either to run the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore. Let’s wait ! I will not be updating the blog and FB as I need fully rest. Thank you.

Day 3

As I am heading to warn up; out of sudden I can’t move and feel sharp pain at the back of the good leg knee. I suspected it could be the fall that I had this morning while showering in the hotel room. Oh dear! I returned back to the tent area and meet up with other runners and get advice from them. A doctor came to me and attended. He saw some black bruises and advice not to participate as it could be serious. I felt so sad and disappointed for not running anyway I need to focus the most importance race in Boston and doesn’t want to get further injuries. At times we need to use commonsense.

Collected the baggage and chance myself. The pain is getting worse and now how to go back at the Airport as every road leading exit are closed to traffic. While waiting near the Eastin Hotel, A taxi driver spotted me and decided to drive back to the Airport. Thanks to the driver.

Reaching at the Airport past 3am; I had a rest while waiting to check in the baggage at 6am before heading to the departure hall. I took 4 panadol to ease to the pain but still don’t work, oh God!

Finally I am at the boarding area and meet up with other runners who are going back and taking the same flight to Singapore. I try my very best to walk but I can’t even bend the right leg and started to limb. Oh God the baggage is heavy and contacted my family to wait at the Airport in Singapore. I will update later!

Finally reach Singapore Changi Airport; my family fetches me and we go for a drink before heading to the emergency room at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital that is 5 mins walking distance to my home. I will update tmr.

Day 2.

Good morning Penang! Beautiful view from Red Rock hotel! 18 hours to Penang Bridge International Marathon.

Finally at Queensbay Mall' I am sitting in the Coffee Bean and having a cup of black coffee. Meet up with runners and we share our past experience journey in marathons. Time to go and meet other runners at the tent area. The full category will be flag off by 2am. SBR SIGN OFF!

The Journey to Penang for International Marathon 2012.

Day 1.

In Singapore;

Reaching at Changi Airport 15mins before 12 noon; check in the baggage and proceed to the departure hall. I am feeling so hungry and decided to have tuna sandwiches with a cup of black coffee at O’Briens.

Boarding time will be at 1350pm and at the gate area, meet up with few friends such as Man, Arrow, Alexandra Asree and few more. All of us are so happy and excited! I was greed by two beautiful Air Stewardess and was direct to the seat at 3C. While waiting to fly off we received announce that the flight will be delayed between 30 to 1 hrs due to heavy air traffic at Changi. What a joke man! Well I took a short nap. I will update later.

Finally at 1435pm the Captain announce the traffic is clear and time to fly off!

In Penang;

Welcome to Penang! Here SBR come…. Collected the baggage and walk around in the Airport and see what’s new. Penang Airport getting upgrading, everything chance! Now I had to look for the bus service no. 308 to QueensBay Mall and I paid RM2.00. The bus driver is so friendly and he is so inspire about me because few months back he saw my picture in the daily Malaysia papers. The best part another driver service 408 recognized me because I used to come Penang in 2010.

Reaching at the mall, I proceed to the event tent and meet up with PBIM organizer secretary Ms Peggy and her team as well. I got my race kit.

Cool race bib no! now I need to rush back to hotel at George Town before the traffic at the road is getting heavy jam as people's here is going back home after their working at the town area. I am trying to save money and better to take bus service to the destination as I know the route to the hotel. Honestly Penang is getting change as there are new buildings and condominium are up. I like here and they are friendly!

Approx 45mins journey and slight jam, I finally reach at Komtar and walk 5 mins to Red Rock Hotel. Firstly I was greed by the door man as he recognize me well and I was direct to the reception counter and there too the staffs welcome we with cheers!

I had a beautiful room and update all my mails; now! Time for cari makan but wait! The weather outside is wet lol! Same as last year rain at night. Near the hotel there is a mamak restaurant and I am getting something light to eat.

After makan walk around and back to hotel for a good night sleep! SBR SIGN OFF!

Today is a special day for me because I am celebrating my 43 years birthday; No celebration just I alone at Tully’s Coffee in Novena Square 2 having a small slice of black Forrest cake.

My wish is to success in future and keeps inspiring the world. This afternoon I also went for an interview and manage to get a part time job as an Admin. At least I will have extra income for the family.

Firstly congrats and RESPECT to all the runners who have compete the most toughest ever Ultra Trail Marathon in Malaysia for TMBT and does not matter what category they are taking part with completed or without, all are to be given respected and salute.

I have witness it and this journey is TOUGH! I say really tough where you had to run and walk in the jungle with tough terrain, crossing over old bridges at anytime that will give way, cross river, climb up the hill and not ordinary hills such as Bt Timah (5 times tougher) narrow path (slip and fall may be fatal) cross over landslide, run in the foggy and the most beautiful thing is to view Mount Kinabalu and other small mountains. This is mental challenge and once you put the foot print there and there is NO TURNING BACK!

This is my fourth time to Sabah in 2011 and for the first time there is no blister, pain or muscle cramp on the stump. I was carrying 6 kilo hydration bag with extra equipment, prosthetic leg, first aid kits, food and many more with race map and campus. I start off with slow pace running and God had sent me with a Malaysian runner beside me where we run and completed together to the ending point and supporters cheering at us there.

When I was at the narrow path of the mountain, I am scared and cried as I am worried that I might be fall either be alive or dead or can I celebrate my birthday in a couple of days times? All this play in my mind and I remember I had a fall in the river and was help by some runners. This is history! This is a test and training for my upcoming future trip to Mount Everest in 2015.

The funny moment my head is stuck by this rock classic group song that was sang by Band Putra Rockers "Sampai disini" oh goodness! I memory this song until completed the race lol!

The first disable athlete in Singapore and the first in the world to compete TMBT in Sabah. I am so happy with this achievement and once again congrats to all runners who put their foot print in the jungle of Sabah, thanks to my Malaysian Pacer, the organizer that was lead by Professional Race Director Aman Avtar and the team, volunteers, doctors, supporting team, all the villages that cheers us all the way, my sponsors for this trip such as The North Face Singapore, GU Energy Labs, Lynk Biotech, friends and runners. THANK YOU!

With this achievement, now I declare to run Everest Marathon in May 2012.

Once again I did final check on the luggage and I am ready to Sabah. I will not be in FB and update the blog till next week and early wishes to all my friends who are celebrating his or her birthday in the month of Scorpio, Happy Birthday!

All the items are pack and seal in the bag; not forget to bring along my extra prosthetic leg and equipment for TMBT 25km in the jungle of Sabah.

I and some of my friends will be flying off to Sabah on Thursday afternoon from Senai Airport in JB. I will be back home direct flight from Sabah to Singapore on Sunday evening at Changi Airport T1.

At this moment I am feeling a bit of nervous and hope I can do my very best and complete the race. I won’t be in FB and update the blog till Monday. Meanwhile have a great day ahead.

It’s awesome to run many up and down slope in Malaysia because this will test the endurance. For the first time I did well in PJ Half Marathon despite the pain at the stump area. Reaching near 19.7km I have to stop for a while and help an injured runner where he had cramp and he can’t move his left leg. I did what I can and finally he manages to walk slowly. I continue the run and near 400 meters to the finisher line, supporters, friends and photographers chasing and keep cheering me with two runners escorting till I cross the finishing line. I MAKE IT!

Congrats to all the runners, YOU DID WELL! Thanks to bro Julian Liew for collecting the race kits, Yimei Theroadrunner Beepbeep and husband for being there, organizer for having an awesome event, volunteers doing a good job, and medic team who attended me, Traffic Police Officers for stopping all vehicle and allowed me to cross the road, press journalists, friends and supporters cheering and a runner (never get his name) sending me back to the hotel as the bus coach leaving at 11am.

This really a wonderful day for me as I meet up my lost relative for more than 38 years in the same bus where we are heading back to Singapore. She still can recognize me as my face did not change.

Thanks God for giving me a great day ahead. Next journey to Sabah on 3rd Oct 2011 for TMBT 25km trail. Right now I am going to have a good sleep as tomorrow another day with short recovery run.

Goanna be happening; Saturday 29 Oct evening heading to Malaysia for Sunday morning PJ Half Marathon and back home on Sunday evening. Thursday 3rd Nov fly off to Sabah for Saturday TMBT 25km solo and back home on Sunday evening to celebrate Hari Raya with family. Monday 7th Nov morning attend Big Walk in Singapore, Thursday 10 Nov celebration with close friends, Fri 18 Nov flying again to Penang for marathon and back home on same day and Sunday 27 Nov with family to JB. I love my day!

Another busy week ahead, this coming Saturday I will be heading to Petaling Jaya in Malaysia for PJ Half Marathon that will be held on Sunday 30 Oct 2011 morning. I am going to do my very best timing and will be back to Singapore on Sunday night.

On Thursday 3^rd November 2011 evening I and some of my runner’s kakis will be heading to Kota Kinabalu for another extreme running that will be held on Saturday 5 November 2011 in Sabah. I will be running the 25km Solo and it’s going to be one of the toughest races in Malaysia. Anyway I am going to do my very best and complete the run. I will be back to Singapore on Sunday night, goanna miss Hari Raya Haji celebration with family at home.

Great news, I will be running the Penang Bridge International Marathon 2011 that will be held on Sunday 20 November 2011 morning for the full category. This will be my final run as from 2013 I heading for mountain climbing to preparation for Everest Mission in 2015.

All will be happening in November and this is my BIG Presents for my birthday that will be held on 10 November. 43 years old and still going strong. Thanks to Allah!

Update Status:

I just got the news that the child is brain dead and passed away. I am so sad and don't understand why some people treat human like an animal and even animal also need to treat well. RIP and I hope justice can be done and a punishment to be given to the driver and the passer by too for not helping the injured child.

This morning I wake up at 3am and getting ready for the next journey to NB Real Run 2011 for 10km category. I will update later in the evening.

Update status:

This morning I was running with a group of team Singapura Everest 2015 climbers for the NB Real Run 10km category.

Since yesterday the pain at the stump area is worsen. I feel like needle poking but I manage to complete the race. Thanks to everyone for cheering at us and I will be heading to SGH for check up and taking a week break before training start again.

This morning I did a very short run at Macritchie and so far nothing to comment on the Flex Run Blade as everything goes as plan. Sitting alone at the Zig Zag bridge and relax the mind. I am telling myself let’s do again and try my very best to complete the 50km route.

This evening I cook chicken rendang for the family and later at 9pm time for me to go bed early. Anyway good luck to the ultra runners that will be starting at 1am for the 100km category. Run safe please.

Today is the very importance day and hope myself, Richard and the rest of my friends will be allowed to enter the Boston Marathon 2012. Let’s wait for the results.

Today is a very importance day in my life not only that but to my country Singapore and ASEAN too. At local 2200hrs I will register one of the greatest marathons in the world, Boston. If I am selected it will be good for us as I am the only hopeful amputee wearing prosthetic leg in ASEAN to run.

I already qualified for this run but hope to have a smooth registration process as there are fewer slots for the disability category; I need to be fast. What I can do now is to pray very hard.
